Introduction - The Drinking Age Should Be Lowered to Eighteen
Nearly a split second, that is all it takes, for an innocent life to be lost for negligent mistakes; mistakes later regretted. Lowering the drinking age by three years would discourage binge drinking and prevent tragic accidents from occurring. If immediate action is not taken, these horrific occurrences will continue. Avoiding alcohol is virtually impossible; finding it, if wanted, is inevitable. Other countries do not have the problems America has with alcohol, because the drinking age in place is rational and people are taught how to handle it at a younger age. Many argue lowering the minimum drinking age to eighteen would cause more deaths through drunken driving accidents, but this is simply an excuse. Fixing the restrictions currently in place is completely necessary and should be done with haste, yet handled appropriately.
Think, before you drink & drive.
Driving drunk not only affects you, but it tremendously transforms the lives of those around you as well. The victim, often times is left not only with expensive and enfeebling injuries, but may also carry the emotional trauma with them for the rest of their live.
